Sports Therapy | Sports Injury Rehabilitation | Sports Osteopath Norwich

Our Sports Injury and Sports Therapy Clinic at Body Flow Osteopathy is delivered by Sports Therapist and Registered Osteopath Mark Field who has over 20 years of experience in the field.

Mark will first seek to understand your symptoms and how they are affecting you, your movement, your training and your ability to perform. He will then use appropriate examination, special tests and palpation (light touch) to diagnose the issue before proposing a treatment plan and a personalised rehabilitation schedule to help you recover, achieve your sporting goals and your best performance regardless of age or ability.

What is Sports Therapy?

Picture
Sports Therapy is specifically concerned with the PREVENTION of injuries through assessing the athlete's body morphology and conditioning, historical injuries, and putting this information in the context of the sport or activity they are doing, the training and movements involved, and the specific goals they want to achieve.

Where there is an existing injury, sports therapy and osteopathy both use principles of sport and exercise science, along with an understanding of the pathological processes of various injuries with an aim to effectively DIAGNOSE the problem and provide TREATMENT to he athlete to get them back to an optimum level of function, using the full spectrum of Mark's knowledge from his Sport Therapy AND Osteopathy training and experience. This is true for repetitive injuries such as tendinopathies, as well as acute injuries such as ankle sprains, and it applies equally regardless of sport, age and ability.

Treatement could include:

  • Soft tissue massage
  • Joint mobilisation / articulation / manipulation
  • Medical Acupuncture
  • Taping
  • Remedial Rehabilitation Exercises

REHABILITATION & EDUCATIONS are part of Sports Therapy & Osteopathy's phylosophy as much as diagnoses and treatment. Your therapist will initially guide you through remedial exercises, alongside hands-on treatment, and will follow with advice, education and conditioning exercises to help prevent further injuries.

But it doesn't end there! Your therapist is also there to support you in achieving OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE and to help you be the fastest, strongest and best you can be.

Is Sport Therapy only for Athletes?

No, Sports Therapy can help anyone who is physically active. People who have physically demanding jobs especially benefit from it, as well as those who have a more sedentary job but like the idea of using exercises to help them feel better.

In short, anyone capable of moving who is willing to commit to doing exercise to improve their symptoms, health or wellbeing is a suitable canditate for sports therapy!
